How much does the TEAS test cost? The 2026 price
The TEAS costs $120 plus sales tax when you register with ATI to test online with an ATI proctor, or through PSI at a test center or online (ATI: cost of the TEAS). When you test through a school, the school sets the price: from $70 to $150 at the six college testing centers in the table below. ATI's own FAQ says the fee depends on where and how you test "and is set by the school or testing provider" (ATI TEAS FAQs). Every retake is a new registration at the full fee.
TEAS test cost by where you test
ATI offers one exam through four kinds of proctor: ATI online, PSI (in person or online), a school in person, or a school online (ATI TEAS register). Exams you buy directly from ATI have one set price; exams taken through a school or testing center are priced by that location. Prices below are each source's own, read on October 27, 2026.
| Where you test | Fee | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Online at home, proctored by ATI (TEAS at ATI) | $120 plus sales tax | ATI cost page |
| PSI test center, or online through PSI (TEAS at PSI) | $120 plus sales tax, the same either way | ATI cost page; Nicholls State PSI steps show $120.00 at checkout |
| At a school (TEAS at Institution, in person or online) | Set by the school | ATI cost page |
| Ridgewater College (MN), in person on campus | $97 | Ridgewater TEAS testing |
| Greenville Technical College (SC), in person | $100 per attempt | Greenville Tech TEAS |
| Peninsula College (WA), in person | $115: $40 proctoring + $75 ATI; $5 more online | Peninsula College TEAS |
| Texas State University testing center (TX) | $125: $65 ATI + $60 center; $130 remote through Proctorio | Texas State TEAS |
| Florida Gulf Coast University (FL), in person | $150: $80 appointment + $70 ATI | FGCU TEAS |
| Sauk Valley Community College (IL), in person | $70; plus a $25 administration fee for non-SVCC students | Sauk Valley TEAS |
What this means: a school's testing center can cost less than ATI's $120 (Sauk Valley, Ridgewater, Greenville Tech) or more (Texas State, FGCU), because many schools add their own proctoring or room fee to ATI's part. ATI notes that a school's fee can also look lower than $120, or free, when the school has folded the cost into another charge such as its application fee. Before you pay, check two things on your program's admissions page: which way of testing it accepts, and the full price at that place. Some programs accept only an in-person exam or one proctor, and ATI does not refund a registration in the wrong format (ATI refund policy). For what each way of testing asks of you, see proctored exams for nursing prerequisites: in person or online.
What the TEAS fee includes
ATI's fee covers one proctored attempt, access to your score report, and, for TEAS at ATI and TEAS at PSI, one official transcript credit to send your score to the school of your choice. An exam taken through a school sends its result to that school automatically. ATI says there are no extra ATI fees on top of the exam price: checkout shows the fee plus tax. Study materials are not included (ATI cost page). A school's own fee may cover less: Ridgewater's $97 in-person price includes a transcript to Ridgewater only, while its $120 ATI online price includes one to the college of your choice (Ridgewater).
How much does a TEAS retake cost?
A retake costs the same as your first attempt: ATI says each attempt is a new registration at the full price, and each TEAS at ATI or TEAS at PSI registration comes with its own transcript credit (ATI retakes). ATI does not cap your total attempts, but many schools do (ATI TEAS register). ATI's help center says it requires no waiting period between attempts and leaves retake rules to your school (ATI: how soon can I retake), while the checklist on its register page says to wait at least 48 hours after an exam before scheduling a retake through ATI. Schools charge per attempt too: Greenville Tech's $100 is "per attempt". So two attempts at $120 cost $240 before any school fees.
Rescheduling and refunds
If you booked on atitesting.com (TEAS at ATI or a school exam booked there), moving your date costs $15 each time. You must do it at least 48 hours before the exam, the new date must be within 30 days of the old one, and it must be at the same place. A TEAS at PSI appointment is changed with PSI, and you keep your fee if PSI gets your notice at least 2 days before the test date (ATI rescheduling). ATI gives no refunds for missed, canceled, rescheduled or invalidated exams, or for exams bought in the wrong format (ATI refund policy). If your date might move, reschedule early rather than miss it: $15 is less than a new $120 registration.
How much does it cost to send TEAS scores to more schools?
Your first transcript is included with TEAS at ATI and TEAS at PSI, but it is not sent automatically: you send it from the Results tab of your ATI account (ATI TEAS FAQs). Each extra school needs one more transcript credit. ATI's transcript store lists $29.99 per credit, one credit for one school; credits never expire, and if you tested more than once you choose which result to send (ATI transcript credits). ATI's cost page also says $29.99 (ATI cost page), while the FAQ on its register page, and Texas State's page, still say $27. Finalized transcripts reach the school electronically within two hours. Applying to three programs after one ATI exam: two extra credits, $59.98 at the store price.
How much is the TEAS study guide?
ATI's official TEAS Study Guide 2026–2027 costs $19.99 as an eBook and $24.99 printed (ATI study guide). It covers all four sections with a quiz for each and one full-length practice test; the eBook is read online in your ATI account and lasts 4 years (ATI study guide details). ATI also sells online practice tests and packages, none of them included in the exam fee:
| ATI prep product | Price |
|---|---|
| Study guide, eBook / printed | $19.99 / $24.99 |
| Practice Test Form A or Form B, each | $29.99 |
| TEAS mobile app, 30 days / 90 days | $16.99 / $35.99 |
| Practice Test Package (tests, answer rationales, study guide) | $69 |
| Basic Package (content review, Practice Tests A and B) | $99 |
| SmartPrep Package | $129 |
| Comprehensive Package | $199, shown at $169 in an offer ending November 3 |
Package prices are from ATI's register page; the guide, single tests and app from ATI's study guide page. ATI does not refund prep purchases, so check what a package holds before you buy.
Ways to pay less for the TEAS
- Compare where you can test. If your program accepts more than one way, prices differ: Ridgewater's campus exam is $97 against $120 online with ATI. Check that the cheaper place sends your score where you need it.
- Ask your school. Some pay for seats: Chabot College covers the $65 TEAS for applicants to its nursing program who attended a nursing information meeting, while its limited seats last (Chabot College TEAS).
- Military discount. ATI offers a discounted registration to active-duty service members, their spouses and dependents; ask by email before you register (ATI military registration).
- Use free practice first. ATI has a free 60-question online practice test and a free version of its prep app (ATI free prep).
- Book the right exam once. A registration in the wrong format can't be refunded or converted, and a missed exam is lost. Confirm the format with your program, and reschedule 48 hours ahead for $15 instead of missing the date.
- Send scores with your included credit. Use the free transcript on the program you care most about, and buy extra credits only for the others.
- Aim to need one attempt. ATI says about 40% of students take the TEAS more than once (ATI retakes), and each attempt is the full fee. Knowing which section is furthest from your program's minimum before you book is the cheapest way to avoid paying twice; see what TEAS score you need for 56 programs' own numbers.
Start with a free practice test
Before you spend $120 on the real exam, take our free 15-question TEAS practice test: it covers the four sections and shows how far each one is from your program's minimum, with the reason for every answer. If you want more after that, we offer TEAS 7 prep plans from $19, one payment. Next Cohort is independent practice, not affiliated with ATI.
